Just outside the Waikiki tourist zone at the base of Diamond Head, Bogart's Cafe has been a Monsarrat Avenue neighborhood fixture for more than two decades, drawing surfers off Cliffs, locals fresh off their Diamond Head crater hike, and in-the-know visitors who heard about the acai bowls. The Diamond Head Acai Bowl, a generous portion of acai sorbet piled with granola, banana, blueberries, honey, and bee pollen, is the signature, but Mama's Fried Rice with Portuguese sausage runs a close second. The space is tight, parking is street-only, and there's often a line out the door on weekend mornings, but it moves fast. Cash-friendly, BYOB at dinner, and unpretentious in the way only true neighborhood spots manage to be.

"Holy acai bowl! Best one we had on Oahu, hands down. The bee pollen and honey make it next-level, and the portion is huge."
